Phenylketonuria (PKU): in search of new solutions

Organisms need energy and matter to grow, reproduce, maintain their structures (organs, tissues...) and connect with the environment. We obtain both energy and row matter from the food that we ingest, which will be transformed into energy and certain molecules by means of a complicated network of cellular chemical reactions. In turn, cells will use these molecules and the stored energy to synthesize the complex molecules that our organism may need at any time. This series of cellular reactions is what is called metabolism.
