Interventions of goods counterfeited by almost 1 million euros

1,626 persons detained or investigated

The Ministry of Interior publishes data related to Industrial Property crimes corresponding to the year 2018 in the Statistical Criminal Portal of its website.

During this period a total of 1,480 facts have been clarified, which represents an increase of 18% over the previous year.

A total of 6,116,730 seizures of counterfeit products have been made, a figure very similar to that of the previous year.

In addition, in the total number of interventions there have been 1,626 people detained or investigated, 379 more than the previous year.

By autonomous communities, the Ministry of Interior has revealed that Andalusia is the region where the most number of interventions have been carried out (461), seizing 512,392 counterfeit products. It is followed by Catalonia - with 246 interventions and 249,487 items seized -, Comunidad Valenciana - with 205 interventions in which they have seized more than 4 and a half million counterfeit items - and Madrid - with 174 interventions carried out and 88,495 of counterfeit products seized. The case of Castilla y León stands out this year, where 458,162 counterfeit products have been seized with 45 interventions.

The value of the products involved amounts to almost 1,000 million euros, of which 776,333,850€ correspond to jewelry and watches. And is that the amount of items seized from this sector have gone from 7,145 in 2017 to 411,551 in 2018. The 127,777,910 € in leather goods and accessories and the 21,771,504 € in textile also stand out (the valuation of the intervened objects is carried out the Association for the Defense of the Trademark (ANDEMA) according to the own criteria and methodology that this organization has).
