The advantages of using the DAS system for national applications to the WIPO Digital LibraryThe Digital Access Service (DAS) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is an electronic system that allows the secure exchange of priority documents and other similar documents between participating intellectual property (IP) offices. The system allows applicants and offices to meet the requirement set forth in the Paris Union Convention regarding certification in an electronic environment. In this context, since last January 15, the WIPO International Office has been a Depositing Office with respect to international industrial design applications submitted in accordance with the Hague Agreement. Specifically, when the applicant or holder asks the International Bureau to provide a certified copy of the international application (priority document), the International Office will provide a DAS access code, as well as the priority document itself. Said DAS code may be used to claim priority in subsequent applications before Offices not members of the Hague System, but participating in the DAS network. As the SPTO is a depositing Office and with the right of access to the DAS service, this service is also available to all applicants for inventions (patents and utility models) who wish to have their priority applications accessible through this digital library. This service is free and subsequently facilitates the administrative procedures required to claim a priority, for example, when an international PCT application is requested. More information
