Success of the quality audit of the SPTO

On December 16, 17, and 18, 2020, the follow-up audit of the Integrated Quality Management and Surveillance System of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO), certified according to ISO 9001: 2015 and UNE 166.006: 2018 standards.

The biggest novelty with respect to 2019 is the inclusion of technology alerts in the scope of the two certifications.

The auditor, from the external company SGS, has confirmed:

• the compliance of the management system with the audit criteria established in the Certification Regulations,
• the effective implementation of the management system according to plan, and
• the ability of the management system to meet the organization's objectives and policy;

And has highlighted the following as strengths:

• Participation, knowledge of the audit process and effort of the Organization's staff.
• The professionalism and preparation of the OEPM staff.
• The use of computer tools and their adaptation to the different processes of the Organization.
• The actions taken in the current pandemic situation and the approach to customer/user treatment.

There is no doubt that this represents a further step in the SPTO's efforts to seek excellence and the highest quality in the services it provides to citizens.
