Collaboration Agreement with the Generalitat ValencianaCollaboration Agreement with the Generalitat Valenciana The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) has signed an agreement with the Generalitat Valenciana (Regional Valencian Government) to establish a framework for cooperation in Industrial Property (IP) matters. The objective of this collaboration agreement is to facilitate that companies and entrepreneurs in the region obtain adequate protection of their IP rights. In addition, an integrated system of training, information and awareness will be developed to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to the market by universities and research and innovation centers, resulting in an improvement in the competitiveness of the business fabric of the Valencian Community. As a result of this agreement, the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE) operates as the Regional Industrial Property Information Center. The SPTO, for its part, undertakes to provide IVACE with the appropriate training on IP and on all related aspects that will improve the competitiveness of companies in the region. Thus, the SPTO will provide access to the dissemination materials or tools currently available and those to be developed in the future. Likewise, it will support IVACE and the rest of the regional centers in the processes of searching for documentation, patentability studies and patent applications, establishing a direct mechanism for resolving doubts with those responsible for each regional center. This new collaboration agreement will contribute to boosting technological development in the region and will contribute to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda 8 and 9: Decent Work and Economic Growth and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
