Collaboration between the SPTO and AIDIMME

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) has signed a collaboration agreement with the AIDIMME Technology Institute to boost the competitiveness of the Spanish forestry industry through innovation.

In a global economy, innovation is more than ever a determining factor for the growth and consolidation of companies and, as such, must be adequately protected through various industrial property rights.

AIDIMME is a business association whose objective is to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the metalworking, furniture, wood, packaging, construction, and related sectors of the Spanish economy through various research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) activities. This non-profit organization has identified the OEPM as a reliable partner capable of meeting this need.

The agreement signed between the two entities establishes a framework for cooperation that will enable AIDIMME to increase awareness and use of IP rights in the activities of its members. This will result in improved competitiveness for Spanish industry as a whole and for the forestry sector and its related industries (wood products and furniture), as well as related sectors (hardware, paints, and varnishes).

This collaboration will take the form of various activities, such as training sessions given by the SPTO on industrial property management and the different technology information services offered by the Office. Support will also be provided to AIDIMME in document search processes, and studies on the patentability of specific inventions will be made available to it, among other things.

AIDIMME undertakes to participate actively in the aforementioned activities and to contribute to disseminating the importance and utility of industrial property. They will also collaborate with the SPTO in the preparation and dissemination of studies and reports of interest to both entities, such as Technology Watch Bulletins.
