WIPO/EPO/OEPM regional meeting : LATIPAT program On April 28 and 29, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) hosted the 14th WIPO/EPO/OEPM Regional Meeting of specialists in information technology and patent information management from Industrial Property Offices in Latin America. This meeting is jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO), and the OEPM, within the framework of the LATIPAT Program. LATIPAT is an initiative aimed at promoting the exchange of patent information and improving the electronic publication of such information by Industrial Property Offices in Latin America. One of the main objectives of the LATIPAT program is to organize training activities aimed at equipping the technical staff of the Offices with the skills to operate and manage electronic patent publication systems. These activities include improving the quality of source data, using international standards for information exchange, utilizing tools for file scanning and indexing operations, as well as developing technical capabilities for the processing and production of high-quality patent data. The meeting is attended by representatives from the industrial property offices of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. With this meeting, the OEPM, the EPO, and WIPO reaffirm their commitment to international cooperation and the strengthening of patent information systems in the Ibero-American region.
