A call for "Aid for Promoting Patent Applications Abroad"
One of the essential aspects of the innovation process is protecting innovations through patents, where international protection is fundamental for competing in a globalized world.
In this context, on Tuesday, April 7, the resolution calling for subsidies for promoting patents and utility model applications abroad was published in the Official State Bulletin (BOE).
Official Bulletin of Industrial Property (BOPI) daily
The BOPI, Official Bulletin of Industrial Property, is the official publication of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) and has been published every two weeks since its creation.
Beginning in May and, in conjunction with the strategic Plan of the SPTO for adaptation to Electronic Administration, the BOPI will be published daily and consultation can be made free of charge at the SPTO webpage: www.oepm.es.
New order of SPTO public prices
On Thursday, March 26, the new Order ITC/742/2009 of March 20 was published in the Official State Bulletin, establishing the public prices of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.
This Order, in accordance with the Plan for reducing administrative costs within the State Administration, reflects the reclassification of some of the public price rates charged by the SPTO, as well as their modification.
New special agreement between the SPTO and the european patent office
On March 17, 2009 the Special Agreement between the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) and the European Patent Organization (EPO) was published in the Official State Bulletin, regarding cooperation in areas related to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
This new Special Agreement substitutes the previous version, dated February 10, 1999, and establishes the foundation for developing cooperation initiatives between the SPTO and the EPO.
Preliminary Publication of 2008 Industrial Property Statistics
The Preliminary Publication of Industrial Property Statistics, conducted by the Service of Statistics and Studies of the SPTO, contains tables with official data on applications as well as on concessions of the various modalities of national Industrial Property for the year 2008.
