
Creation of the Fernández-Nóvoa Endowed Chair in Innovation and Industrial Property
On April 26, World Intellectual Property Day -created in 2000 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)- the presentation of the Carlos Fernández-Nóvoa Endowed Chair in Innovation and Industrial Property took place as a result of the collaboration of two agencies within the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade with great experience in the field of teaching: the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI) business school, and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO).
The Chair is to coordinate the many activities that both organizations develop in the field of innovation and Industrial Property, creating new synergies, achieving greater integration and coordinating training and dissemination activities and establishing a joint platform for the business-academic world. In this way, it seeks to promote an integrated system of training and information by facilitating the mutual transfer of knowledge between universities and the business world.
The objectives of the Chair:
- Provide training for Spanish companies.
- Develop specific training programs for university students.
- Organize open meetings to allow for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and concerns.
- Build a platform for innovation and information on Best Practices on Industrial Property.
- Bring the world of Industrial Property closer to the educational environment in an interdisciplinary and transversal way.
- Publicize activities for promoting the awareness of Industrial Property.
- Investigate new tools for promoting the knowledge of Industrial Property.
