Crafts and traditional products in the tourism sectorCrafts and traditional products in the tourism sector Tourism accounts for 10% of the European Union's GDP, making it an economic driver with a significant impact on growth, employment, and social development. In this context, the European Commission has announced a new project and preparatory action (PPPA) aimed at strengthening the role of crafts and traditional products in the European Union's tourism sector. Specifically, it aims to support artisans in the creation, promotion, and sale of traditional products, boost local economies, encourage collaboration between European artisans, involve young people in this sector, promote the ecological and digital transition of the tourism sector, and strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs. This new instrument has an estimated budget of €970,000, which will be allocated to transnational consortium projects involving at least six public and private entities established in EU territories.
