IBEPI PresidencyIBEPI Presidency On January 2, 2026, Spain assumed the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Ibero-American Program for Industrial Property and Development Promotion (IBEPI), reinforcing Spain's commitment to Ibero-American cooperation in industrial property and to promoting innovation as a lever for economic and social development. The Presidency of IBEPI provides a privileged framework for promoting technical cooperation and the exchange of experiences between industrial property offices in the region, as well as for fostering the convergence of public policies that enable the effective use of the industrial property system in support of competitiveness, innovation, and entrepreneurship. During its term, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) will work in coordination with IBEPI member countries to consolidate the Program as a leading forum for technical dialogue, institutional strengthening, and the implementation of joint initiatives that respond to the current challenges of industrial property in the Ibero-American sphere. In this context, the Spanish Presidency will pay special attention to: • Strengthening the institutional capacities of industrial property offices. • Promoting the strategic use of industrial property, especially among SMEs, entrepreneurs, and research centers. • Integrating industrial property into public policies on innovation and sustainable development. • Promoting regional and international cooperation, in coordination with other multilateral organizations and programs. The assumption of the IBEPI Presidency in 2026 reflects the OEPM's desire to actively contribute to strengthening the Ibero-American industrial property system, putting its technical expertise and institutional track record at the service of effective, results-oriented cooperation aligned with the region's common priorities.
