OEPM News: New Database of Geographical Indications for Artisanal and Industrial Products Applied for in Spain and New Version of Protegeo In May, a new database of geographical indications (GI) for artisanal and industrial products applied for in Spain was made available to the public. This database displays a list of applications for this type of protection and their most relevant details: - name of the Geographical Indication - file number - registration date - application date - type of application (supra-regional or regional) - processing status. Additionally, you can click on the name of each requested geographical indication to view more detailed information and the various steps in the processing. Furthermore, the electronic trademark application tool (ProtegeO v1.70.1) has been updated. The new version of the ProtegeO tool includes the following improvements: • Simplified trademark renewal: o Text updates: title of the procedure and legal notice to the applicant • Response to formal rejection: inclusion of colors for goods and services in the procedure confirmation for comparison with the initial application and the Nice International Classification • Inclusion of a new sub-procedure for responding to the transfer of oppositions in the national phase against a standard amendment application for Geographical Indications • Trademark Applications: o Inclusion of a compliance check in the Report on Goods and Services o Restriction on the inclusion of prohibited characters in various fields of the application • Opposition to trademarks: new section for proprietary documentation with the option to attach files in audio (mp3) and video (mp4) formats More information https://www.oepm.es/es/herramientas/buscador-base-de-datos/buscar-indicaciones-geograficas/
