The OEPM and Open Government Week

The OEPM and Open Government Week

As every year, our country celebrates in May Open Government Week with the aim of bringing public administrations closer to citizens and promoting transparency, integrity, participation, and accountability.

From May 18 to 24, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) held various activities designed to give citizens a firsthand look at some of the most relevant aspects of administrative life.

Among all the activities, the guided tour of the most representative spaces at the Ministry of Industry and Tourism’s headquarters in the Cuzco Ministerial Complex stands out; this complex is an example of the brutalist architecture that forms part of the Administration’s architectural heritage.

Likewise, the OEPM opened the doors of its Historical Archive to the public to showcase a very special exhibition focused on sports.

This theme was chosen to coincide with the theme of World Intellectual and Industrial Property Day, celebrated on April 26. On this occasion, the world celebrated how IP rights drive sports today. In turn, at the exhibition prepared by the OEPM, attendees were able to travel back in time to witness how Spanish science, technology, and creativity contributed to the development of this discipline since the early 19th century. All of this was presented through a careful selection of documents related to sports registered in Spain between 1826 and 1939.

The visits began on Monday, May 18, with a visit from the Minister of Industry and Tourism, who came to the Historical Archives headquarters to enjoy this exhibition.

To cap off the week, a roundtable discussion was held to present employment and professional development opportunities within the various agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. The OEPM participated in this discussion to explain the work of professionals who serve to advance technological development and promote protected innovation in our country.
