New Publication: Protecting What We Invent The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and the School of Industrial Organization (EOI), as part of the Carlos Fernández-Novoa Chair in Innovation and Industrial Property, have published the book “Protecting What We Invent”. It is a collection of interviews with several of the winners and finalists of the Awards for the Best Invention Protected by Industrial Property Rights, which the OEPM grants each year. The interviewees are researchers, scientists, engineers, and inventors from various fields of knowledge who explain to the reader what their respective inventions consist of and what novel contributions they make to industry. The aim of this volume is to demonstrate, through all these experiences, how a commitment to industrial property rights is the best way for researchers to channel innovation to society as a whole through the market. Tools such as patents and utility models promote the transfer of knowledge while offering an appropriate reward to their creators. The book is available to the public and can be accessed free of charge on the OEPM and EOI websites.
