23rd Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government

On 18 and 19 October 2013, the 23rd Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government was held in the city of Panama (Panama) under the heading “The political, economic, social and cultural role of the Ibero-American Community in the new world context”.

The conclusions of the Summit were laid down in a programme of action which, as in recent editions, contains a reference to Industrial Property rights and the proper protection and dissemination of such rights as drivers of growth and development. On this occasion, decision A.5.7. stresses “the creation of an Ibero-American Platform of Industrial Property Services for the Production Sector, in the framework of the Ibero-American Programme for Industrial Property and Development Promotion, which aims to offer Ibero-American users, especially Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), universities and research centres an integrated environment for the promotion and protection of Industrial Property rights, in order to promote successful participation in global and regional systems for innovation.”

CIBEPYME
This declaration stresses the CIBEPYME platform as the first tangible result in the context of the Ibero-American Programme for Industrial Property and Development Promotion (IBEPI), having been created at the 21st Ibero-American Summit held in 2011 in Asunción (Paraguay). It indicates the technical and political support enjoyed by the IBEPI throughout the region.
