4th Meeting for Improving the Management of National Industrial Property Offices

From 7 to 10 October, the ‘Meeting for Improving the Management of National Industrial Property offices’, organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO), was held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

This was the fourth edition of this Meeting, and was attended by representatives from all the Industrial Property Offices in all the Ibero-American countries as well as experts in this field.

Taking up synergies
The main value of this meeting is that it affords a common scenario in which synergies can be taken up, experiences can be shared and developments in each of the offices can be tracked. These aspects help strengthen the institutions, develop skills and guide cooperation.

Amongst the main subjects covered are the relevance of strategic planning,  quality management, awareness campaigns, dissemination and communication actions and relations with the media.

Finally, a consensus was reached on the importance of involving strategic partners and other public and private authorities in the dissemination of actions taken to make citizens more aware of Industrial Property, creating a multiplying effect and giving credibility and consistency to the message.
