ANDEMA and SPTO: raising awareness of counterfeiting

The National Association for the Defence of Trademak (ANDEMA), with the support of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO), has launched its Fourth Poster Competition. Prizes will go to the best design based on an original slogan related to the fight against counterfeiting, for the campaign that will take place around World Anti Counterfeiting Day 2016. The goal of the campaign is to promote social awareness and respect for Industrial and Intellectual Property rights, in the face of the counterfeiting phenomenon.

All editions of the competition to date have been a success in terms of participation. A total of 93 posters were presented in the first edition, 46 in the second and 158 in the third.

Registration period
In the current edition, professional designers, students of design, or any person that so wishes, may participate, as long as he or she respects the rules of the competition. The period for presenting posters runs from November 2 until December 1, 2015.

Three prizes and two runner-up prizes will be awarded. The prize-winners will be announced on December 11 of this year.

What is counterfeiting?
On the other hand, ANDEMA and the SPTO have prepared a handbook entitled 'What is Counterfeiting?' which contains practical information on counterfeiting and on measures that can be taken to combat it. The guide is published alongside the campaign “Don´t be an accomplice to counterfeiting”, which raises awareness about this issue and the problems and harm it causes.
