New Industrial Property Agents On September 25, a ceremony was held at the OEPM headquarters to deliver certificates of qualification to the new Industrial Property Agents (API). The candidates successfully completed a process to demonstrate their knowledge of industrial property, which culminated in the publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) of the Resolution dated July 24, 2026, issued by the Directorate of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), O.A., declaring eligible those candidates who have passed the proficiency exams demonstrating the knowledge necessary for the professional practice of an Industrial Property Agent and knowledge of Spanish law, for the purpose of recognizing the professional qualification required for citizens of the European Union or of States party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area to practice as Industrial Property Agents in Spain. To begin their professional practice as IP agents, candidates who have been declared qualified must meet a series of requirements and register in the special IP Agent registry. Industrial Property Agents play an essential role in supporting and providing specialized advice to innovators and entrepreneurs, assisting them and representing and defending their IP rights.
