5th Edition of the OEPM Awards for Best Inventions5th Edition of the OEPM Awards for Best Inventions For the fifth consecutive year, the OEPM wishes to reward the efforts of inventors who have worked hard on their research and protected their creations through patents and utility models. These awards for the best inventions recognize the work of Spanish inventors of patents or utility models granted by the OEPM in 2024. In addition to the overall category for the best patent and the best utility model, awards will be given to young inventors and women inventors. The awards, whose winners will be announced in the middle of the year at an awards ceremony, are divided into the following categories: • Best Patent (overall category) - 4,000 €. • Best Patent by a Young Inventor (under 40 years of age on the date of filing the patent application) - 4,000 €. • Best Patent by a Female Inventor - 4,000 €. • Best Utility Model (absolute category) - 2,500 €. • Best Utility Model by a Young Inventor (under 40 years of age on the date of filing the utility model application) - 2,500 €. • Best Utility Model by a Female Inventor - 2,500 €.
In addition to the financial prize, these awards have a significant impact in terms of prestige and visibility, which will be of great help in promoting the professional careers of the winners. Furthermore, special mentions may be awarded in all categories to those candidates who, while not reaching the level of recognition of the winning proposal, deserve special recognition. Each of these will receive a cash prize of €2,000 for the patent categories and 1,000 € for the utility model categories. The jury, chaired by the director of the OEPM will be made up of renowned experts in the field of industrial property. Anyone wishing to participate may submit their entries between February 11 and March 10, 2026, inclusive. Applications for the “Awards for the Best Inventions Protected by Industrial Property Rights” may be submitted via the OEPM's website (https://sede.oepm.gob.es ).
