The SPTO participates in the National Industry CongressThe SPTO participates in the National Industry Congress The 8th edition of the National Industry Congress brought together representatives from the public and private sectors of Spanish industry in Bilbao on February 4 and 5 to explore ways of collaboration and successfully address present and future challenges. The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) actively participated in the Congress through interventions in various round tables and the organization of several workshops with the aim of conveying to attendees the enormous importance of proper industrial property management for all companies seeking to innovate. Specifically, during the round table discussion entitled “Protected Innovation: Patents to Boost Industry,” possible ways of collaboration and solutions were proposed to enable companies to carry out effective technology transfer from universities and research centers to the market in a profitable manner. The SPTO also organized several workshops dedicated to promoting innovation, protecting intangible assets, and the strategic role of industrial property in strengthening the productive fabric, offering attendees information about its services and how patents, trademarks, and designs contribute to boosting the quality, differentiation, and international projection of companies. During the Congress, King Felipe VI presented the first edition of the National Industry Awards “Bien hecho en España” (Well Made in Spain), which recognize companies in the sector whose performance contributes to maintaining and raising the quality standards of Spanish industry. The National Industry Awards have five categories that aim to recognize the different aspects involved in the industrial production process. The head of state recalled the origins of the European Union (EU) and the importance of industry in its creation, transforming it from a source of conflict between European powers to a guarantor of peace and stability on the continent. “Industry today remains key to increasing productivity and growth,” said Felipe VI, which makes it possible to guarantee strategic autonomy and safeguard greater independence for Europe from third countries in a global context as turbulent as the current one.
