Biphilic dandelion-like nanostructures are fabricated by treating hydrophilic nanowires with 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-Perfluorodecyltriethoxysilane to form nanowires with superhydrophobic surfaces. Zinc acetate dihydrate is dissolved in ethanol to form a seed solution, and the nanowires with superhydrophobic surfaces are coated with the seed solution. The coated nanowires with superhydrophobic surfaces are heated to form ZnO seeds thereon. Zinc nitrate hexahydrate is mixed with hexamethylenetetramine to form a precursor solution, and the nanowires with superhydrophobic surfaces with the ZnO seeds are immersed in the precursor solution. The precursor solution and the nanowires with superhydrophobic surfaces with the ZnO seeds are heated to form the biphilic dandelion-like nanostructures.
