The electrolytic copper foil comprises the following structures: a dense copper layer; a loose structure copper layer, grown on bi-directional surfaces of the dense copper layer; and a barrier layer, coated on the loose copper layer. The preparation method is divided into: preparation of dense copper layer by electrolyzing raw foil; preparation of loose structure copper layer; curing treatment; and optionally, silicone-containing organic layer treatment. It can be used in the field of lithium-ion battery and the field of printed circuit board. The present disclosure abandons the method of preparing copper foil having double-sided loose structure by etching, but uses electroplating process. Such a preparation process has batch and continuous production capacity, which can fundamentally solve the problem that the tensile strength of copper foil having double-sided loose structure is affected by the etching. And copper foil for printed circuit boards can be prepared by adding only one additional step.
